Looking back on my career as a graphic facilitator, it’s hard to believe it’s been over two decades since I started in this amazing field. I feel incredibly fortunate to still be doing what I love. It all began with a bit of luck and a lot of hard work that brought me into the world of graphic recording and facilitation.
Starting out at Bell Canada, I was part of a forward-thinking team led by Norm, who was all about dreaming big and taking risks. This was where I first dipped my toes into graphic facilitation, thanks to training in ASE (Accelerated Solutions Environments). It was eye-opening how much impact visuals could have—we slashed project timelines and delivered results faster than ever.
Coming from a call center background, stepping up to this new challenge wasn’t easy. I battled with ‘imposter syndrome’ for a while—feeling like I wasn’t good enough, especially in a field that seemed so skilled and creative. But I had amazing colleagues who lifted me up, taught me the ropes, and let me learn by doing.
Out of this supportive environment grew ThinkLink Graphics, initially just three of us: Disa Kauk, who’s been by my side since those Bell Canada days, and later Erica Bota, who brought fresh ideas straight from finishing her Masters. Together, we realized we’re stronger as a team—especially when we took on big projects like whiteboard videos.
As our team expanded to include Devon Kerslake and Delaney Cox, and with the addition of talented graphic recorders Shannon Loomer, Kathryn Maxfield, and Lynne Dalgleish, our capabilities grew exponentially. Everyone brings something unique to the table, and we thrive on pushing each other to do better.
What sets us apart is our trust in each other’s abilities. We empower each team member to take the lead on client projects, which some might call risky—but with strong communication and support, it works for us. And yes, we’re proudly an all-women team, celebrating integrity, resilience, and the joy of learning together.
Looking forward, I’m excited to continue this journey with a team that values collaboration, innovation, and supporting each other. Here’s to inspiring others to take chances, find their tribe, and embrace growth. Here’s to the next 21 years and beyond!
